Many people moving to northern Virginia look for homes near Briar Woods High School – it is a big draw in Brambleton and Ashburn areas.
In 2013, Briar Woods HS was ranked as one of the Top 500 best schools in the nation by US News and World Report – they ranked 8th in Virginia and 201st in the nation!
Also in 2013, the Briar Woods Falcons Football team won another state championship, their third in a row! Plus they were named to the 8th Annual MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions Presented by the Army National Guard. Only the top 50 teams in the entire country are selected for this honor. The football team is not the only sport that excels at Briar Woods, but they have a phenomenal record!
Briar Woods High School opened in 2005 and by 2013 was already over capacity. There has been an incredible amount of growth in this area … and Brambleton VA is a popular place to live. There was some discussion of moving some Briar Woods students to John Champe High School, in Aldie VA. Instead, the Loudoun County School Board, expedited the construction and opening of Rock Ridge High School in nearby Loudoun Valley Estates.
School boundaries change as new schools open, and naturally Rock Ridge HS opening in 2014 will affect the boundaries of nearby Loudoun County High Schools, especially Briar Woods. See our Loudoun County School Boundary Map for more detailed information.
Currently, Stone Hill Middle School and Eagle Ridge Middle School both send students to Briar Woods. Creighton’s Corner Elementary School, Legacy Elementary School, Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School, Hillside Elementary School, and Mill Run Elementary School all send students to Briar Woods High School also, through the middle schools.
The Briar Woods Falcons already have a reputation as strong competitors, even in their relatively short history. The Falcons compete in nearly every sport and scholastic competition for which the school is eligible, from football to debate … and they win a lot!
